Support and Help
Students at our adult school are free to enjoy all that Bournemouth and its surrounding areas have to offer in their own time outside of their lesson schedule. Our friendly and helpful staff are always around to give advice and help for those wanting to plan a trip or activity by themselves and we also offer some activities every week for students to join if they wish.
We also accept students who are under the age of 18 at our adult school (minimum 16 years) and these students are also primarily unsupervised. However, for students who are 16 or 17 years old we pay them a little more attention to make sure they stay are safe and happy. we ask them to make sure they are back at their homestay or other accommodation by 11.00pm, this is for safety reasons and also as a courtesy to the families. All students are given a 24 hour emergency number in case they need any help during their stay.
Lessons
If a student does not arrive for their lessons, we will contact their host family or accommodation provider to find out where they are and ensure they are safe. This will be done within 30 minutes of the lesson starting. If there is persistent lateness or unexplained absence, we may contact the students’ parents or agency to see if there is anything we can do to help.
Activities and Free time
We offer an exciting activity programme, on most weekday afternoons and occasionally during the evenings in order to cater for all students. For students aged 16 and 17 activities are compulsory unless they have prior agreement from their host and the school that they can remain resting at home.
We make sure the activities we offer for our adult students are suitable for the whole student body so all ages can be included. We do not offer organised activities every evening. So clients should be aware that 16 and 17 year old students studying at our adult school can be unsupervised outside of their lesson schedule if their host families agree.
Please note students will not be accompanied to and from their homestays.
